A Peek Behind the Curtain: The Admissions Process at Yale School of Medicine

The admissions team from Yale School of Medicine will join us to share opportunities available at the school and walk us through how the admissions process works, from screening thousands of applications, to inviting candidates for interviews, to enrolling the entering class. There will be plenty of time for questions.

Meet the Facilitator
Kate Fukawa-Connelly is the Director of Health Professions Advising. She supports the progress of undergraduates and alumni as they develop into future health professionals. She is committed to getting to know prehealth students holistically so that she can guide them toward making decisions that will support their academic, personal, and professional goals. She has particular expertise working with students who are the first in their families to attend college and students who come from other backgrounds that are underrepresented in medicine. She is an academic athletic fellow for the Women's Swimming and Diving team and a SIFP Fellow(Link is external).

Kate loves college--she majored in Biology with a minor in Comparative Literature at the University of California at Davis, realized that she enjoyed working directly with students as a residence hall adviser, and has worked in higher education ever since then. She pursued a MS in College Student Personnel at Miami University of Ohio and has worked in residential life, academic advising, academic support, first-generation/low-income student services, and LGBTQ student services at colleges and universities in Ohio, Iowa, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, but she has found the best professional fit in prehealth advising.

Kate is a Chicago native (go Cubs!), a nationally ranked Scrabble(Link is external) expert, and a musical theater fan.

Kate participates in HPA Drop-In hours and works primarily with juniors, seniors, and alumni.
