The Biotech & Medical Research Trek will visit The Rockefeller University and Prevail Therapeutics.
The world’s leading biomedical research university, Rockefeller University draws top scientists, graduate students, and employees from around the world in pursuit of one mission: to conduct science for the benefit of humanity. We invented the modern bioscience institute, and we’ve spent the past 117 years perfecting it. Within our campus, labs employ the latest technology to answer the toughest questions in their fields. And right outside is New York City, a mecca for culture and ideas, and a burgeoning hub for biomedical translation. During the visit students will participate in a group presentation by The Rockefeller University's science recruitment team, have a chance to tour the campus, and a lab, and ask questions to a panel of current Research Assistants.
Prevail Therapeutics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company. Prevail Therapeutics focuses on drug development for neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, frontotemporal dementia, and Gaucher’s Disease using a gene therapy platform. Eli Lilly is a leading pharmaceutical company with at least two blockbuster drugs in the past couple years including the weight loss drug Mounjaro and Alzheimer’s disease drug Kisunla. During the visit, students will hear from a panel of members of different departments (research and development, biomarkers, statistics, regulatory, clinical development, quality assurance), questions and answers, group snack mixer. I will seek permission for lab tours, if granted, there will be a tour. This is a great way to an intro to biotech and pharma with leaders in both spaces.
*Please note that all City Treks are open to all years and all majors. The Biotech & Medical Research Trek is not geared toward exclusively pre-health students but both employers do tend to hire from STEM fields.
IMPORTANT: All interested students must fill out the registration form linked to the “Register” button in MyPrincetonU. You will receive an update on your status (registered or waitlisted) via email on a rolling basis through December 20, 2024. Registrations submitted after December 20th will receive a status update by Friday, January 3, 2025. All accepted and waitlisted students are required to attend a mandatory virtual orientation session during the week of January 6, 2025 to be eligible to participate in City Treks.
To request accommodations for this event, please contact mrooney@princeton.edu as soon as possible.
**WINTERSESSION TRIPS NO-SHOW PENALTY**
Given the limited number of trips available, the long waitlists for trips, and the significant investment of resources to make trips possible, trip registrants who are no-shows and did not cancel their registration with mrooney@princeton.edu at least 72 hours in advance of their trip will be charged $50 via their student account.
The only cancellations that will be accepted within 72 hours prior to the trip without the penalty fee must include a doctor’s note. Otherwise the $50 no-show fee will be charged.
