The Princeton Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research aims to advance the science of cancer and metabolism, leading to innovative dietary and pharmacological strategies for preventing and treating cancer. During this workshop, you will hear short talks from Ludwig scientists about the latest advances in their research for cancer treatment and development of new drugs, learn about opportunities for students to work in Ludwig labs, and participate in a real time experiment where we will perform staining to look at the chromosomes of different cancer cell lines. No experience is necessary, and we welcome all participants from the Princeton Community. Cancer is a disease that touches so many. The purpose of our work is to contribute to the prevention and treatment of cancer. That’s what motivates us at the Ludwig Princeton Branch.

Meet the Facilitator:
Sarah Mitchell, PhD – Dr. Mitchell is a staff scientist at the Ludwig Princeton Branch interested in understanding how diet and age can modulate cancer. Her current research focuses on the role of diet and fasting in synergizing with chemotherapy treatments to optimize treatment outcomes using mouse models. Michael MacArthur – Dr. MacArthur is a Lewis-Sigler Fellow in the Institute of Integrative Genomics, interested in systems-level nutrition and the influence of genotype on nutrient responses. His current research broadly focuses on understanding at a systems level how metabolism changes in response to diet, aging and age-related diseases like cancer.
