As part of the fourth edition of the Princeton French Film Festival (March 20-April 23, 2026), you're invited to an informal conversation in English with Alain Mabanckou, a major African and Francophone author who published 40+ books. Topics will include Prof. Mabanckou's personal and artistic trajectory as well as his books. No preparation or reading required.

Dinner swipes to Forbes College Dining Hall will be offered to the attendees.

This event will be followed by a screening of "Noirs en France" (2012), a documentary made and narrated by Alain Mabanckou, that will take place in Betts Auditorium from 7:30 PM and followed by a Q&A. Tickets can be reserved on the Princeton French Film Festival website.

This is event is open to all PUID holders regardless of identity.

Alain Mabanckou

Alain Mabanckou is a novelist, journalist, poet, and academic. A French citizen born in the Republic of the Congo, he currently teaches literature and creative writing in the Department of French & Francophone Studies and African Studies Center at UCLA. Known for his novels and non-fiction writing depicting the experience of contemporary Africa and the African diaspora in France, Mabanckou is among the most recognized Franco African writers in France in contemporary literature.
