"The Theft of the Congo: Riches to Rice," part of the Black Student Union’s 2024 DuBois Intellectual Series, focuses on the historical and ongoing exploitation of the Congo's people and imperialist extraction of its resources. Amid the current crises of hunger, violence, and poverty, Yolian Ogbu, an NYU graduate student researching the exploitation of Congolese workers, and Maurice Carney, from Friends of the Congo, share about the humanitarian crisis and history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
