Scientific publishing is an essential component to any research endeavor, but the process itself can sometimes feel shrouded in mystery.  In this talk, the importance of scientific publishing is explained by examining the roles of authors, reviewers, editors and publishers.  Likewise, the journey your paper takes throughout the publication process is discussed from pre-submission to final acceptance and beyond, while several tips and advice on maximizing the success of having your paper published will be examined. Recent topics in publishing, such as the role of artificial intelligence and open access are further covered.  Finally, careers in scientific publishing will be discussed from a day-to-day perspective and how to pursue this path.
