The Future Faculty series for science and engineering is designed for graduate students and postdocs who are a few years from the faculty job market. This series will provide clarity of faculty life in diverse institutions, revealing essential skills and mindsets for career success. Through data-transparency, a systems lens, and knowledge of resources and opportunities, you can craft an intentional plan for professional development, while learning from Princeton faculty, staff and alumni who serve as faculty in diverse institutions. 

The 2024 cohort of Future Faculty series for science and engineering graduate students and postdocs is scheduled on July 29-31, 12-4 pm, with a bonus online session on August 7th at 12PM. The in person part of this series will wrap with a reception on July 31 at 4:30 pm.

Day 2: Faculty Life in R1 Institution

Perspective of new faculty on transition to research independence

  • Leading and sustaining a lab: projects, finances, and people
  • Clarity on the tenure and promotion process
