Details
Island Beach State Park is a preserved undeveloped barrier island located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Barnegat Bay. While you may think summer is the best time to visit this park, winter offers something magically as well. Join us to learn about the importance of dunes, how storms affect the beach, and what migratory winter visitors, such as brant, buffleheads and more that we may get to see enjoying a frozen bay. It's an amazing and beautiful place to visit.
The park contains close to ten miles of sandy beach, an extensive shoreline along Barnegat Bay, dense maritime forests, rolling sand dunes, and tidal marshes.
What to expect: Bundle up! It may be cold and beautiful depending on which way the wind is blowing!
