Huge amounts of geographic data are published daily on the Internet. These data can be accessed and used to make maps and other visualizations. This session will use QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and R to explore data from providers such as MapBox, Overture Maps, the U.S. Census Bureau, NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency. Attendees will search for data on-line and see different ways to view the information as maps and interactive displays.

Meet the Facilitator: William Guthe is a Senior Geographic Information Systems Visualization Analyst in Research Computing. He assists faculty, graduate students, undergraduates and staff in collecting and managing digital geographical data, running analyses and creating maps and other presentations. He helps people work with data fromMini workshop (90 mins total) various sources to extract useful insights.
