Inspired by the motto of the National Association of Colored Women and their work to promote educational opportunity and human rights, the Pace Center's Lift As You Climb Conference brings together students, community partners, and staff to create space for leadership development, skill building, and meaningful dialogue while preparing volunteers and community members to do service well. This is a convening of community to make positive change.

Doing the work (of being a student, being in service, being in leadership) can be hard. It takes intention, and attention to give yourself the energy, compassion, and acknowledgement necessary to sustain the things that matter to you. Gather together so we can practice some ways of being that will feel nourishing, empowering, and real. Come to learn, reflect and make your plan for what sustainable self-care will look like for you in this season of your life.

Jess is a consultant/advisor to students and nonprofit organizations working toward creative paths to wellbeing, mental health, and inclusion.
She was formerly associate director, student-athlete services and health professions advising at Princeton.

[LAYC] Princeton Historical Walking Tour

Join Fern Spruill, a local community leader, for a walking tour of the Princeton community that focuses on the history of the African American experience. During this tour, you will visit the Witherspoon-Jackson Neighborhood while meeting and hearing the stories of a variety of community members and leaders whose families have lived in Princeton for generations. The tour will be at a leisurely pace, with moments for rest and conversation throughout.

Join Een Jabriel, Pace Center community partner-in residence, for a discussion about his life and work dedicated to prison and re-entry education. Een has been involved with prison education for the past 16 years as an incarcerated student, a recent undergraduate at Rutgers University, and as a recruiter, trainer and volunteer coordinator.
