The first half of Day 1 is a CPR course. If you have a current CPR certification, email a copy of your certification to oa@princeton.edu and you will be exempt from that portion of the course.
If you have a current EMT certification, email oa@princeton.edu.
Wilderness First Aid is an intensive course that covers patient examination and evaluation, body systems and anatomy, wound care, splinting, environmental emergencies, and backcountry medicine. Hands-on simulations provide first-hand training in treating patients.
After successful completion of all course requirements, participants will be issued a Wilderness First Aid certification.
In order to become certified, 100% attendance of all days is required as well as passing a written and practical exam at the end of the course.
Registration preference is given to (in this order):
1. Students who have already completed all of the other OA Leader Training requirements.
2. Students who are in the process of completing OA Leader Training.
3. Students who will be completing OA Leader Training.
4. Anyone else.
Participants who successfully pass CPR and Wilderness First Aid will have met the First Aid requirements for OA Leader Training.
