2024-25 Fung Global Fellow, Sezen Ünlüönen, will present her research on how Ottoman literary sources depicted British colonies and British colonialism in the nineteenth century focusing on Abdülhak Hamit Tarhan's Indian plays.

PIIRS

Sezen Ünlüönen is a literary scholar who specializes in Anglo-Ottoman encounters in the 19th century. She received her Ph.D. in English from Harvard University, and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of English Literature and American Studies at Tel Aviv University, Israel. While at Princeton, she will work on her monograph, the first book-length study of how Ottoman literary sources depicted British colonies and British colonialism in the nineteenth century.
