U.S.-American social media are a platform for both propaganda and disinformation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as well as often competing information and narratives by non-official diaspora Chinese institutions, and individuals. Taking the Taiwan visit of the previous Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, in Taiwan and the outbreak of the Russian war against Ukraine as examples, the talk maps out the ideational landscape among the Chinese bloggers as well as organizational, including transnational features of this group of people.

Kristin Shi-Kupfer is a professor for contemporary China studies and director of the China Institute at University of Trier. She is also a senior research fellow at the Mercator Institute for China Studies. Her research focus on China's digital media and society.
