This workshop will introduce best practices of data management, with special attention to the needs of computational and data-intensive researchers. It will highlight the new data management capabilities available (and coming soon) with TigerData and explain how TigerData fits within the wider storage landscape in Research Computing. We will discuss Della Secure: a faculty-sponsored scratch storage space on the Della cluster for handling confidential (Level 2) and restricted (Level 3) data. Finally, we will discuss the filesystems across the Research Computing clusters, including the different /home, /scratch, and /projects storage resources available to researchers.

Matt is a dedicated proponent of open research practices across disciplines, with expertise in the social sciences and experience with data management in a variety of settings. He has a PhD in Sociology and Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame, where his research focused on contentious political transitions and social network dynamics. He also has a background in the humanities, having concentrated on philosophy and religious studies as an undergraduate. Before joining the Princeton Research Data Service in November 2019, Matt completed a postdoctoral fellowship through the Interdisciplinary Center for Network Science and Applications at Notre Dame, where he was a core researcher and data manager for the NetHealth Project, a large study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

My academic research has centered on leveraging high-performance computing (HPC) systems to conduct advanced simulations of astrophysical fluids under extreme gravitational conditions. I apply my expertise in HPC to support climate researchers within the Geosciences department.
