Want to improve your CPU efficiency and lower your run times? Join Intel for a workshop on performance optimization. This workshop will cover the Intel VTune Profiler, Intel MPI library and Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector. The instructor will demonstrate the use of these tools for multithreaded and MPI applications. This training is intended for intermediate and advanced users who already know how to run software in an HPC environment and sometimes develop and compile their software. The format of the workshop is demonstration only with open Q&A. Participants can work through hands-on exercises on the Intel DevCloud or another system (e.g., Adroit) but there will be little to no support during the workshop.

Learning objectives: Attendees will learn how to accelerate parallel codes using Intel performance tools.

Knowledge prerequisites: Basic Linux and some experience with a compiled programming language (e.g., C/C++, Fortran, Java).

Hardware/software prerequisites: None. Optionally, participants can use a laptop to connect to the Intel DevCloud or another system to work through hands-on exercises without any support or troubleshooting from the instructor.

Session format: Demonstration only with open Q&A

Instructor bio: James Tullos is a former aerospace engineer working as a Technical Consulting Engineer at Intel. He helps developers understand and improve distributed application performance using Intel® Software Development Tools.
