The LLM Collective is a user group for language model users of all experience levels and abilities to discuss the rapidly evolving changes in this space and create fun things.

This month, our topic is Jeff Heller's PU_AI Sandbox project:

Jeff Heller will present his PU_AI Sandbox project, a command-line academic tool developed in collaboration with faculty in Princeton’s Department of East Asian Studies. The talk will explore how large language models can support humanities research and teaching, with a focus on translation across East Asian languages and image-to-text transcription. Through a live demonstration, Jeff will showcase the tool’s capabilities, including built-in usage tracking that allows for the monitoring of individual faculty use and manage costs effectively. The presentation will also reflect on the practical and institutional challenges of building AI tools for faculty adoption, highlighting both the promise and the complexities of integrating AI into humanities scholarship.
