Details
In this session, we’ll share stories of progress in research through open practices and data that took on lives beyond their original projects. We’ll talk about some of the challenges of good data stewardship and the tools and practices that researchers use to help overcome them. This session is for anyone interested in open data--either because they’ve heard about it and want to know more, or they are already passionate about the power of sharing open data.
What to expect:
This will be a lecture style session (webinar format) with the opportunity for audience participation via mentimeter. The presenters will share open data success stories and challenges and invite participants to provide input and stories of working with data.
Meet the facilitator:
This session is presented by members of the Princeton Research Data Service (PRDS), a new initiative to provide Princeton’s diverse research community with the expert services and infrastructure to support the open data practices and the effective management, curation, and preservation of digital research data.
Wind Cowles, Director of the PRDS, is a former associate professor in linguistics and former scientific review officer with the NIH, with over 15 years of experience in human subjects and cognitive science research.
Matt Chandler was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame before becoming a Research Data Management Specialist with PRDS. He has experience with multiple methods and data types in the social sciences, and expertise in contentious political transitions and social network dynamics.
Neggin Keshavarzian was a research specialist and data curator at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute before becoming a Research Data Management Specialist with PRDS. She has experience with human neuroimaging research.
