Meet the facilitator:
Gillian Marcus is the Preventive Conservator at Princeton University Library. She received an M.A. in Conservation of Art on Paper from Camberwell College of Arts and a B.A. in Photography from the London College of Communication. Prior to joining PUL, she worked at the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and in private conservation labs in the UK and US. Gillian has held internships at the Black Cultural Archives, the Royal Collection Trust, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Centre for Photographic Conservation. She is a board moderator for the Materials Information and Technical Resources for Artists (MITRA) initiative and Outreach Officer for the American Institute for Conservation Collection Care Network. Bart J.C. Devolder is Chief Conservator at PUAM. He received his M.A. in painting conservation from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, Belgium, in 2002. He has held several internships and fellowships, including the the Musée du Louvre, Paris; Harvard University Art Museums (2003–"4); and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. (2004–"7). Bart has worked for the Kimbell Art Museum and Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas. Before joining PUAM, Bart was the on-site coordinator and painting conservator for the restoration of the Ghent Altarpiece by the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck (2012–"18).
