SPIA “FMPP” Short Course, January 13-15, 2022
Everything you always wanted to know about private equity but were afraid to ask!

This is your opportunity to be part of the 12th SPIA Short Course on Financial Markets and Public Policy, taught from a Business School and Practitioners’ perspective.

The course will be opened to Graduate Students only and offered in person over three days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, January 13-15, 2022, with an optional financial accounting session on the evening of Wednesday, January 12.  

Please register by November 30, 2021 so we can gauge interest and finalize the scheduling.

•    The course will cover aspects of financial markets that should be part of the vocabularies of all public policy practitioners, including those who work for federal, state and local governments; international institutions; and non-profits such as microfinance institutions or other social enterprise organizations. •    Participants are expected attend all the sessions in person.  The course will run over three full days, 9am – 5pm on Jan. 13 & 14, and 10am – 4pm on Jan. 15. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the full days.

•    The optional session on financial accounting will be 5:30-9:00 pm on the evening of January 12, 2021. A pizza dinner will be provided.

•    The material on January 13 & 14 will give students a practical working knowledge of how financial markets function as well as how they are regulated. The material will cover the fundamentals of capital markets, including the markets for
Treasuries, mortgage financing, corporate debt, currency and commodities, and international financial markets and crises.

•    The sessions on January 15 will cover some specific areas including municipal finance, private equity, and international finance.
