Join us for a ~5 hour exploration of the largest Hindu temple in the USA. (BAPS) Swaminarayan Akshardham temple is a landmark of Hindu Architecture and Culture in New Jersey that spans 185 acres and stands 191 feet tall. Akshardham is a magnificent Mahamandir (Hindu house of worship) carved in stone according to ancient Hindu scriptures. During this visit, you will also get to experience and engage or observe Hindu rituals like Aarti etc. Towards the end of the journey, we will visit gift shop and enjoy lunch in Shayona café. In this café you will get to experience vegetarian Indian and Western cuisines.
This immersive experience is open to all Princeton students, regardless of religious affiliation or background—no prior knowledge of Hinduism is required, just a curiosity to experience Hindu architecture and culture. Transportation from campus and lunch at the temple café are included to ensure a comfortable and enriching journey.

Below is the high level itinerary of our Guided Tour on Jan 17th 2025 (Friday):
9:30 AM: Departure from Princeton University Campus : Princeton Station Transit Center (Wawa)
10 - 10:30 AM: Arrival. Meet at Nilkanth Plaza by the Golden Nilkanth Varni tapomurti.
10:30 - 11:15 AM: Head to the welcome center and watch orientation video and see the haveli architecture
11:15 - 11:30 AM : Go for Rajbhog Aarti in the Nij Mandir
11:30 - 12:30 PM : Detailed Akshardham Tour and Darshan + free roaming
12:30 - 1:30 PM : Go to the gift shop and Shayona Cafe for lunch
~3 to 3:30 PM : Departure from the temple and back to Campus

**WINTERSESSION TRIPS NO-SHOW PENALTY**
Given the limited number of trips available, the long waitlists for trips, and the significant investment of resources to make trips possible, trip registrants who are no-shows and did not cancel their registration with wintersession@princeton.edu at least 72 hours in advance of their trip will be charged $50 via their student account.
The only cancellations that will be accepted within 72 hours prior to the trip without the penalty fee must include a doctor’s note. Otherwise the $50 no-show fee will be charged.
