What is LaTeX?
LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting, which can be used for publishing journal articles, technical reports, books, and making slide presentations.

Why use LaTeX?
LaTeX helps researchers focus on the content rather than the layout during the writing process. Compared to the fancy editors, LaTeX builds your research paper with professional typeset output effortlessly. In addition to the beautifully handled equations, symbols, and various visual components, LaTeX also provides structured files, encouraging us to organize the document in a logical way. Moreover, you can share your documents with coauthors, comment on the content clearly and interactively and have your manuscripts saved automatically.

It looks so complicated!
Don't worry about the pre-coding part: it is much simpler than you think. Pro Tip: LaTeX templates for different journals are generally available from their websites! Like Python, LaTeX has many extension packages and user-friendly interfaces available online.

Let's have your draft done with LaTeX online tools with a well-designed template!

Meet the facilitator:
Jie Chen is a CIMES postdoc researcher in the Princeton AOS program, working on the physics of landfalling hurricanes. She turned to LaTex to draft and submit her papers one rainy day in a coffee shop and has loved the rigor and logic of LaTex ever since. Lingwei Meng is a CIMES Ph.D. student working on understanding the genesis of hurricanes worldwide. She also uses LaTex for academic writing and has learned many debugging tricks. The "zero to pro" LaTex template used in the mini session will be designed by Jie and Lingwei and will be available online after the session.

What to Expect:
