Digital accessibility means ensuring that technologies and the information they provide are accessible to people with disabilities. This class introduces disability, accessibility, and digital accessibility, with a focus on digital accessibility in practice. The class is co-taught with staff from the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, demonstrate using a screen reader to access a website, and share a number of assistive technologies.

Meet the facilitator:
Mary Albert, Director, Digital Accessibility. Mary founded and leads the Office of Information Technology's digital accessibility program, and is responsible for all aspects of its design and implementation. She develops University policy and strategy, working across the institution to address issues of governance, practice, risk, and compliance. Mary helps ensure that people with disabilities can access and use the institution's IT and the information it provides, and are valued in the University's culture and community. Mary champions accessibility wherever technology and digital information are designed and developed, acquired, or used. Rachel Busnardo, Training and Outreach Program Manager, Digital Accessibility. Rachel helps empower the campus community to create digital environments and materials that are accessible to all people.
