Finding your roots -- An introduction to genealogy

In this session on genealogy, we introduce you to the library's subscription to Ancestry Library, which allows you to locate records on your family members.

Meet the facilitators:
Elana Broch is the Public Policy Librarian at Stokes Library. Elana is an amateur genealogist, who has spent much of her research efforts trying to find out about her grandfather, a 1941 Holocaust euthanasia victim. Having reached a brick wall, she is widening her focus to explore her family’s escape from Europe in the early 1940s. In addition to using holocaust resources, has also done a lot of research on her immediate family in the United States.

Jeremy Darrington is the Politics Librarian at Firestone Library. Jeremy enjoys exploring and teaching others about family history resources as well as researching his own family tree, many parts of which are documented back 10 generations or more. He has volunteered for several years as an indexer with FamilySearch, one of the world’s largest and oldest genealogical organizations. He has deep family roots in the United States, the UK, and Denmark.
