This workshop will introduce you to the craft of embroidery and empower you to discover sources within Princeton University Library’s collection to use as inspiration. We will teaching you how to search the catalog for materials, bring you to Special Collections to view some embroidered items, and then teach a few basic stitches. During the workshop you will choose a design from the collection, create a pattern on fabric, and then embroider a square that will be part of a small exhibit at Firestone Library.

Meet the facilitator:
Jen, Emma, and Gabriella are librarians at Princeton University Library with a passion for textile and fiber arts. Relatively new to the craft of embroidery, they are just as curious to find inspiration within the Library’s collection as they hope the participants are.
