Traveling to a different country is by itself no guarantee of intercultural learning; students must be prepared to engage with the new culture they encounter and provided with the intellectual scaffolding necessary to make meaning out of the differences they experience.

This lunch workshop, offered by the Office of International Programs in partnership with the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning, aims to initiate a series of conversations among globally-minded faculty and staff about how to intentionally structure their academic travel to maximize the development of student intercultural competence. We will provide participants with a theoretical framework for intercultural learning and a variety of tools and activities to integrate the intercultural component into the course content prior, during and after travel.

Lunch will be provided.

*First ten attendees who RSVP will receive a complimentary copy of “Social Justice and International Education”.
