A storymap is a digital expository work illustrated with multimedia elements such as maps, images, text, audio, and video. Most often, short passages of text are associated with specific locations on a map. As the reader progresses through the narrative, the map updates to display the associated location, proving spatial context to the story. Storymaps are a popular choice for digital course assignments, allowing students to create professional-looking scholarly resources with easy-to-use tools. This session will introduce participants to the two most common platforms for creating Storymaps, ArcGIS Online StoryMaps and StoryMap.js, and provide tips for making your storyMaps assignment a success.
