Join GradFUTURES for an online panel discussing international STEM careers in industry, featuring recent Graduate Alum! Meet graduate alums and learn about international science and engineering careers in Asia, Europe, and other regions of North America.
Scientific research and science-related careers are inherently global, and our graduate students are increasingly interested in learning about diverse careers beyond the United States. This summer, the Graduate School’s GradFUTURES program is tapping into our global network of graduate alums to facilitate online panels about international career pathways. This second panel is for Princeton’s graduate students (and postdocs) in science and engineering. It will focus on shared and distinct facets of science and engineering careers in industry (including job search processes and criteria for success) as well as practical tips about building a career and life in different parts of the world.
These summer panels are part of a larger, customized professional development program specifically tailored to the unique needs of international graduate students, ‘Thriving as an International Scientist and Scholar,’ to be offered in summer and fall 2025.
Panelists include:
- Lindsay Willmore (*22 NEU), Research Engineer, Google DeepMind (UK)
- Claire Radley (*15, AOS), Strategy and Integration Lead, Rio Tinto (Singapore)
- Athena Li (*22, MOL), AI and Quantum Powered Drug Discovery, Aqemia (France)
Additional panelists will be added soon
Moderators:
Margarita Belova, GS ECE and GradFUTURES Professional Development Associate
Yun Choi, GS CEE and GradFUTURES Professional Development Associate
This event is co-sponsored by the Graduate Student Government.
Speakers
Athena Li
*22 MOL
AI and Quantum Powered Drug Discovery, Aqemia
Athena graduated from Princeton in 2022 with a PhD in Molecular Biology. Athena Li bridges science and strategy as a Princeton-trained molecular biologist and former BCG consultant in the US. Now leading AI- and quantum-powered drug discovery at Paris-based techbio company Aqemia in Paris, France, she steers the company’s internal portfolio and drives innovation from concept to clinic.
Claire Radley
*15, AOS
Strategy and Integration Lead, Rio Tinto
Claire graduated from Princeton in 2016 with a PhD in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences. Originally from New Zealand, Claire returned to Australasia following her study and took up a role in McKinsey & Company. Based out of Melbourne, Claire travelled extensively and worked on a range of projects – from healthcare to mining to private equity. She found a love for largescale industry operations and focussed predominately on mining work. In 2019, she took a role as GM Strategy for a steel distribution company in Auckland, before returning to the mining industry with Rio Tinto in Brisbane in 2021.
More recently, Claire has relocated to Singapore to lead the Rio Tinto Steel Decarbonisation Strategy team. This global role combines many aspects of previous roles, including her PhD, and is a great way to meaningfully reduce global emissions. On a personal note, Claire enjoys exploring Asia with her husband and two young daughters (aged 2 & 5).
