The Future Faculty series for science and engineering is designed for graduate students and postdocs who are a few years from the faculty job market. This series will provide clarity of faculty life in diverse institutions, revealing essential skills and mindsets for career success. Through data-transparency, a systems lens, and knowledge of resources and opportunities, you can craft an intentional plan for professional development, while learning from Princeton faculty, staff and alumni who serve as faculty in diverse institutions. 
The 2023 cohort of Future Faculty series for science and engineering graduate students and postdocs is scheduled on Aug 7-Aug 9, 12-4 pm. The series will wrap with a reception on Aug 9 at 4.30 pm.

Day 2: Faculty Life in R1 Institution

Day 2 of Future Faculty series for science and engineering will on Aug 8, 12-4 pm will include following topics:

  • Perspective of new faculty on transition to research independence

  • Development and evolution of independent research program
  • Leading and sustaining a lab: projects, finances, and people
  • Clarity on the tenure and promotion process
  • Holistic and inclusive mentoring
